The composer Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672), portrayed here, is only indirectly connected to the themes of war and peace. Some of his compositions refer to the Thirty Years' War, which had a significant influence on him. His motet “Verleih uns Frieden gnädiglich” (Grant us peace graciously) deals with the destruction and death caused by the Thirty Years' War. For me personally, Heinrich Schütz not only stands for outstanding music, but also, in a certain sense, for war and peace.
