Charlie Chaplin’s Peace Speech

Info:

This is the first time our school has brought eurythmy to the outside world. That is why we would first like to explain what eurythmy actually is.  Eurythmy is a relatively young art form. Its origins can be traced back to Rudolf Steiner, who developed this art of movement together with Marie von Sivers. Eurythmy is holistic. It deals with the body, mind, and soul and is performed both as a solo performance and in groups. With its focus on spiritual expression, it has an intense effect on various mental levels. Due to global developments, our generation is forced to deal with oppression that arises from restrictions on our personal freedom. This idea was one of the main triggers for the decision to choose Charlie Chaplin's speech for our group performance, because it sarcastically embodies and represents the values of freedom. The contradiction created by the non-causal words accompanying Charlie Chaplin's synchronized voice in the film The Great Dictator manages to criticize dictatorships and express our desire for freedom in a polarizing way.
