War Can Come Quickly

pics4peace cooperates with the Rock Music Drama by Wolfsmehl: THE CRAZY ANTIWAR RALLYE WILHELM II

Like sleepwalkers, European nations lurched into World War I. Germany was at the height of its economic and military power. Against Great Britain, the expansion of the fleet was pushed. With the Sarajevo assassination of the heir to the Austrian throne, a fateful chain of events was set in motion out of misconceived pride, fear, propaganda, disinformation and a lack of diplomatic ability. 29 million people cruelly lost their lives. What started from an individual became the fate of an entire nation.

Even today, no country in Europe wants war. However, the basis of trust between Russia and NATO, which is essential for stability in Europe, is fading. Tension situations are accumulating. Putin wants to go back to the old Soviet Union's dominance. Fake news and alternative facts unsettle people. Airspace violations by military aircraft are becoming more frequent. And Trump, as leader of the Western superpower, boasts about the bigger nuclear button.
An analogy to Wilhelm II imposes itself, also humanly.

pics4peace sees itself called upon to point out these connections. Only those who learn from history are not condemned to experience it one more time.

The Rock Music Drama is to be discussed and acted out as a project work at High Schools and Universities in the coming years. It is suitable for music and theater groups, but also for P-seminars and can be brought in interdisciplinary. Young people slip into the roles of the actors, direct the play and intonate the music. In this way, they experience first-hand how the disaster took its course and become politically sensitized. They understand very concretely how important it is to tackle conflict situations and defend the free word.

Playwright Wolfsmehl is willing to read, explain and discuss The Crazy Antiwar History Rally - Wilhelm II with young adults, as well as provide assistance and advice. There are templates for the music.
