The Dachau Theater Kids`play is ready!

[Translate to English:]

There is news from Dachau about our theater project! The theater kids of the 3rd grade, aged 10 and 11, and the 8th grade, aged 15 and 16, have chosen their protagonist for the play. It is the namesake of their school: Greta Fischer.

In the play, which the theater kids worked out with Wolfsmehl, a group of children embarks on an adventurous journey. Not voluntarily. The Second World War has just ended. Their parents were murdered in Treblinka. So the underage children flee Poland to fight their way to Germany. There in the south of the country, in a small town near Dachau, they hope for help and a new home.

How the small gang saves itself from starvation, how the children find orientation on the run, disguise themselves to avoid being caught and finally come closer and closer to the children's home in Indersdorf near Dachau, is told in one strand of the exciting stage story.
In a second, letters from Greta Fischer are woven in, whose parents were also murdered in Treblinka and who has found shelter with her siblings in England. At least until the moment when she decided to leave her siblings to work in the children's home in Indersdorf, which the Americans had set up for the parentless children of the Holocaust after the end of the Second World War. There she developed educational concepts for their traumatized orphans that are still relevant today.

How it all turns out, and whether the children will meet Greta Fischer in the end, you can be curious about that!

At the beginning of September, the texts for the book of the play, which is to be published in October, will be handed in for printing.

The first performance will be in November with two premieres:
On 29.11.23 there will be a daytime premiere at the Theater Dachau, on
30.11.23 the evening premiere will take place.

We say toi, toi, toi for the entire theater team of Greta Fischer School Dachau (Bavaria in Germany)!
